HDT Awarded U.S. Air Force F-15 Flight Line Air Conditioner Contract
On August 26, 2014, HDT was awarded a contract from the U.S. Air Force for our Thor® 200 flight line air conditioner. The contract calls for a total estimated quantity of 400 units over a five year timeframe. The U.S. Air Force took delivery of their first units in March, 2015.
The HDT Thor 200 environmental control unit is the industry’s most advanced mobile, ground support flight line air conditioner, providing customers with the unprecedented capability to maintain aircraft cooling requirements in the world’s most extreme environmental conditions.
“We are thrilled to work together with the U.S. Air Force and its FMS customers on the F-15 Radar Modernization Program. Our dual-powered, trailer-mounted flight line air conditioner is specifically designed for use in severe environments and to meet the high demands and mission profiles required by our customer,” said Paul Kovarovic, Vice President of Joint and USAF Customer Business, HDT Global.
As a result of the U.S. Air Force F-15 Radar Modernization Program, new radar systems emit more heat than previous systems. Pre-flight air conditioning is required to protect other aircraft components and crew from high temperatures while on the ground, and before onboard aircraft air conditioning systems are utilized.
HDT’s core competencies in engineering design and custom manufacturing, coupled with our legacy of providing unparalleled field support, logistics capabilities and understanding of defense procurement mechanisms, were key factors in HDT winning this contract.
