SOLON, Ohio – October 11, 2018 – HDT, a leading provider of highly engineered Proven Solutions for Extreme Environments across military, public and industrial sectors, opened its new Battle Lab and Advanced Development Engineering (Blade) Center located in Spotsylvania, VA, with a ribbon cutting ceremony featuring the HDT Adroit® unmanned system, Dexter. Congressman Rob Wittman attended the ceremony, as did other local dignitaries, customers, local business owners and company employees.

HDT built the Blade Center, which now houses approximately 65 engineers and support personnel within 40,000 sq. ft., to provide expanded capability for research and development and for manufacturing some of HDT’s specialty products, including unmanned systems such as Dexter. The Center’s mission is to accelerate delivery of technical capabilities to the warfighter by creating innovative and reliable solutions through the fusion of emerging technologies and customer needs.

“The realization of our new HDT Blade Center offers an enhanced environment for the innovation and development of the next generation of solutions that support our warfighters in extreme environments,” said Sean Bond, President and CEO.

“The HDT Hunter WOLF, the ultimate solution for the Army’s SMET Program, is one example of our continued research and development performed by the same engineers that now reside within the Blade Center,” added Dr. Carl Pates, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. “The new facility gives us an enhanced capability for testing and demonstrating these new technologies as well.”

Congressman Wittman, who attended the ribbon cutting as the keynote speaker, stated, “I was thrilled to attend the opening of HDT’s new Blade Center facility. The HDT Blade Center will bring new jobs to our community, many of which are highly skilled engineering positions. Our academic and industrial base are strategic assets, and I believe it is critical that we get cutting-edge technology into the hands of our warfighters. This facility will be laser focused on delivering expeditionary capabilities that enhance the effectiveness and safety of our men and women in uniform. I want to thank HDT for their commitment to our service members, and I wish them luck as they continue to grow within the Spotsylvania community.”

Located off the I-95 corridor, the HDT Blade Center includes engineering offices, prototype laboratory, robotics / medical production area, large training room and a four-acre battle lab area for testing and demonstration, centrally located for many HDT customers.
